A trained architecture and artist by nature, Andre Pater began painting professionally nearly 50 years ago. He graduated from the Krakow Academy of Fine Arts in Poland with Bachelor of Arts in architecture in 1981 and subsequently moved to the United States. He worked for a few years as an architect in Dallas, Texas, but he continuously expressed himself through drawings and painting. After several years in this post, Mr. Pater began pursuing a career as a professional artist and painter in Kentucky, primarily working in sporting art, having painted equestrian and natural scenes as well as Native American artwork.
Recognized in local and international publications, Mr. Pater has been featured in Spur, Keeneland Magazine, Kentucky Homes and Gardens, Bloodhorse, Delta Magazine, Polo, and Canadian Thoroughbred. He has also been featured twice in Equine Images Magazine, as well as the Carlyle Hotel Magazine of New York and the British Cheltenham Racecourse publication. His impressive list of clients includes the former British Ambassador William S. Farish, Darley America, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, Coolmore Ireland and Keeneland Race Course.
After his first one-man show at Cross Gate in 1992, Mr. Pater has exhibited and sold his work in places such as Aiken and Camden, South Carolina, Del Mar, California, and Saratoga Springs, New York. Notably, he has won Best in Show at American Association of Equine Artists competitions at Morven Park in Leesburg, Virginia, and at the Kentucky Horse Park. Attributing his vast success to his passion for art and the quality of his work, Mr. Pater adds that he does not seek splendor or fame, only a life thrilled by the beauty and emotion of his creations. To remain abreast of his field, he currently maintains membership with the American Academy of Equine Artists and Iroquois Hunt Club.
